If you have enjoyed participating in the Homesteading Link Up, you should join this month’s Green Moms Carnival on Food Independence. Deadline has been extended until Sunday, July 15!

The weekly Homesteading Link Up allows us to share our knowledge, progress, skills and stories about our own homesteads. Everyone is invited to link up – whether you have a balcony garden or hundreds of acres; whether you have been at it for years or are just getting started.

Featured Post: Why and How to Make Your Own Pectin

From Free Range Mama at My Healthy Green Family: “Since one of my primary reasons for making my own jam in the first place is to avoid processed food, why am I adding a highly-processed product to my minimally-processed jam?  Good question.” Learn how to make your own pectin from crab apples!

I recently planted a crab apple tree to aid in pollination of my little orchard, so now I’m thrilled to have a use for the crab apples (in, oh 5 years or so). I think this is a great option for those of us who really want to go completely homemade and from scratch with our food preservation.

Link Up Your Post!

What to link: any of your posts from this week that are about any homesteading topic: gardening, cooking, preserving, sewing, raising animals… This is a very broad topic! I would love to have everyone share the button on their own blog posts and visit some of the posts that have linked up to help us build community and learn from each other.

One of the links posted will be selected to be featured next week, with an excerpt and a link back in the Homesteading Link Up post.
